Howth Head

The headland of Howth is the northern  end of Dublin Bay’s sweeping crescent of horizonless blue, mirrored on the south  by Killiney Hill.

An all-engulfing swathe of scrub speckled with flowers of red and butter gold heathers lie under a grey blue sky.

Exposed karst and craggy shards of quartzite and mudstone are peppered with minerals in chartreuse and umber. Olive green gorse invades every crack. Turn over this double-faced silk scarf to dive into the gorse scrub, and find flecks of sky hidden in the heathers.
